Worked on a project with the ASML. The goal of this project is to reduce the vibration of a flexible structure to 20% of the undamped value at a lower mode in the order of 10 Hz.

We used a piezoelectric sensor and actuator to sense and damp the amplitude of vibration respectively.

My primary role was to conceptualize, design and analyze the flexible mechanical structure to which the damping piezoelectric patches would be applied.

Performed hand calculations and iterated between CAD designs (SolidWorks) and Modal Analysis (Ansys) to arrive at the final design.

Performed Harmonic Response Analysis using Ansys to estimate vibration amplitude at the resonant frequency.

The project has successfully met and exceeded the 5 times amplitude reduction goal (presently achieving 10 times reduction).
